Default Low oil pressure

Hey guys!

First time poster and super excited to be here and finally having an s2000. I just purchased the car about two weeks ago. I knew I needed to replace the TCT when buying, so I did just that once I got her back home. I will make the list of events to brought me to my current predicament.

-Tues 7/21 (first day with car) Only drove back from purchase. Noticed sometimes stopping the oil light on dash flashes then goes away. I had a fat oil leak and I fixed it. It was a crack in the timing cover right behind the idler puller. Fixed with titanium hi poxy. Zero leak from that. Thought that would make the oil light go away
- Replaced brand new OEM TCT Last thursday 7/23
-Oil change Motul 5w40 7/23
-Thurs 7/30 notice the "card in bike spokes noise again" I am very confused. I do expection of valve lashes, retainers chain etc. Everything checks out fine.
- Fri

7/31

I do more research and find out that the oil light can come on during low oil pressure, I admit ITs my fault fort his. But anyways, the TCT has gone bad in about a week, due to low oil pressure is my best educated guess as of now. Now I want to know what is the best first thing to tackle to try to solve this problem.

This is my daily driver and my only car.

Thanks in avance

Take a video of it with light modulation on the throttle. Bring it up to 3k and back down to idle.

Oil light comes on it will usually mean engine damage.

Is your oil now topped up and no more leaks and the oil light is still turning on? Dropping oil pressure somewhere in the motor

I hate to say it but your bearings are probably shot. Many times over the years owners have posted those symptoms and it turned out to be the bearings. If any of them are really worn the clearances don't give enough resistance to raise the oil pressure.

And since the oil takes the path of least resistance the rest of your engine would be starved of oil.

Yeah... sounds bad. When you changed the oil, did you notice much metal suspended in it? Anyhow, prolly best to drop the pan and inspect the bearings. Before more damage is done.

yeah I was thinking bearings as well. When I changed the oil I did not notice any sparkling metal in it. So the oil pressure low drops only sometimes when coming to a stop, I am sure u read my entire post. I have not driven the car since and I am waiting for my friend to have some time so we can borrow his lift to drop the oil pan. Is their any chances it could just be clogged somewhere? or best beat is bearings? either or I should just check the bearing clearance once I drop the oil pan/

Oil pressure drops coming to a stop, as the tolerances increases as the engine's temperature raises. Should drop the oil pan and check the bearings.

If the oil light comes on at idle with 5w40 oil you likely have issues with the engine.

The TCT issue is not necessarily related to the oil issue, you can solve that problem by purchasing a modified TCT from Billman250, that will be a permanent fix.

But no sense in polishing the brass on a sinking ship, I'd get your oil pressure readings tested and go from there. Get an oil pressure check done asap, report back with the readings.

okay Thanks guys, really appreciate this, I have work all day tomorrow. I will be trying me best to get the actual tool first to test the oil pressure and hopefully will be testing the oil pressure tomorrow night. I should do the oil pressure test with a warm engine so I get the pressure at warm idle of course correct?

Compression test won't really tell you anything about low oil pressure. Low pressure is usually secondary to worn main & rod bearing surfaces. Worn out oil pump and/or oil pump chain. Or major leak in a high pressure line, somewhere in the engine.
