Default Lower compression motor questions

Hi guys,

I have had my engine rebuilt with cp pistons 11:1 ratio with sleeves blah blah blahave about 6000kms into the motor now. I had built it with lower compression with plans to run FI in the future - no rush to do so yet and haven't decided when I will.

I know the car will run richer with the lower compression which explains the smell. However I am finding it to burn oil (10w40) slightly and when I heavily accelerate or vtec it would have a trail of dark smoke (friends described it as more on the grey side but to me it was a bit darker).

I am assuming it is normal until I tune it etc.

Can I please have some opinions on this matter? Thank you for taking your time to read this!
