Default Lowering VTEC

i recently installed a VFAC 2 and am getting ready for some AFR tuning. i couldnt resist the urge and i lowered vtec to 5800. i am doing any good. it fun to have the cams sooner, but is it hurting my car? the truth please. i would like to hear from both camps, those who have and those who wont. thanks guys!

i have my vtec set at 4100 during my dyno. my car like it. my tuner said we could of gone lower to about 3800. i'll do that once i get my ems. and for now i turn it up to 5000 or 5600 when im doing fwy or long distance driving. and for turn it down to 4100 when having fun. it wont hurt the car. being able to set vtec this low means we need CAMS!!! there's couple in development right now so be on a look out.

a VFAC will allow you to adjust it.

On my car we set it at 5400 with the EMS...for the 2.0L it was as low as we wanted to go. Going down to 5300 caused an ever so small decrease in torque from 5300-5400...going to 5200 would have caused even more of a decrease. For my car 5400 was perfect.

There is nothing wrong with lowering VTEC, but going too low is of no benifit and will actually hurt performence. Just look back at my dyno and my hp curve. Neglecting the spikes from intake resonance draw a straight line...you should see that it is as flat as possible with neither a rise or loss during VTEC engagement.

first make sure you lower the H-->Lo down too. your lo-->hi can be lower than ur hi-->lo.

if that doesnt work then go into settings and see what ur settings are. 4 cyl. are pointing to upper right corner. and my vtec is set at 1.

also dont lower vtec to much. like silver said, it depends on your car and mods. shawn kept lowering vtec and it like it so we went lower. it was originally set at 5600 but we tried lowering just for the fun of it. on my car it liked a lower vtec setting and we stopped at 4100. he said i could've went down to 3900 but im gonna wait till i get my ems.

I got mine lowered to 5800 with a VAFC-II on a DYNO and I gained like 15 WHP with my mods , and its good but I don't Understand Why you want to lower it so much? then you shouldn't have VTEC and just have a High rpm cam.....IMO ....Also by lowering it to 5800 I get a smoother VTEC engagement ....
