LSD going out?
during hard cornering in low gear vtec (2nd gear 6,000+ rpm) it seems the LSD starts to fail, sometimes I can notice a wierd smell but overall it feels like the car is not pulling through the turn the way it should, almost like a FWD will lose traction and instead of oversteer go nowhere..
The Torsen unit in our car is mechanical and either works or it doesn't. It's not like friction plate or viscous designs that gradually change in their ability to redirect torque.
That said, it's likely some other issue that is causing the perceived loss of acceleration out of turns. Is the car understeering? If so, it may simply be a loss of tire grip, or too aggressive a driving style.

Well... it does rely on the proper amount of friction between the side gears and the planet gears to get the right amount of LSD.
I have noticed that as personal experience with the wrong (not up to the job after 6000 km) oil.
All the symptoms (much like the OP describes) went away with the proper SAE 90 GL-5 oil.
What oil is in there now and how long has it been in there?
That said : It could be tire pressure......
