Default "maint req'd" light

HI!
The light on the dash "maint req'd" has come on. What are the causes that make it come on? My car is a '01 and has just over 19K miles on it.
Can I reset it, and do I want to, or should I just bring it to the dealer?
Thanks,
-Steve

You have just reached a time on the odometer when regular maintinence is suggested for your car. Look in your manual for the things that Honda suggests you have done at this time. If you do the work yourself make sure you wright it all down in the back of the maintinance book and put your reciepts in there as well for proof. Then follow the insturctions to reset the light.

or Just bring it to the dealer

Check owners manual to see what needs to be done.

To reset the light:

1) Put the key in and don't turn it.
2) Press and hold the "trip" button
3) turn the key to "on", don't start it
4) wait till the light goes out and let go of the "trip" button

funny, i've never seen that light go on, in the past 22000km. Not a feature on EU cars? Our maintenance / oil intervals are 15000km.

I don't think it is an oil issue, I had just changed the oil.

Depends, TrueDrezzer. If you get dealer service done, assuming they remember, they'll reset it when the oil changes are done so you'll never see it.
