Default Maintanance Req light help.

I took the factory air box off but left the reg intake. I only disconnected the hose that connects to the check valve because i reroute it, but hooked it right back up. Now my main. req light stays on and i don't know why.

Disconnected the battery but it's still on... anybody know why that would be?

The maint. Req'd light has nothing to do with the air box. Are you sure it's not a CEL?

I knew how to reset the light but i didn't know why it would've came on just by taking out the air box. Yeah, its the MRL not CEL. I think what could've happend was when i disconected the hose with the check valve it let air in the collector box and when i hooked it back up it read that something was differnet.

But i did reset it and now it's fine... just wandered if it had happened to anyone before.

Thanx for the link though, but already knew it

lol the maintenance required light comes on for ONE reason and ONE REASON ONLY.

it comes on after so many miles to remind you to change your oil. even though you had your oil changed, they did NOT RESET the maintenance light for you, therefore, it simply eventually got past enough mileage that it came on. it just happened to coincide with your intake deal.

the MRL has no other function and would never come on otherwise. it is based PURELY on mileage since it was last reset. If you get your oil changed every 3500, then I suggest you do the reset procedure when you get it changed. or simply just reset it every time it comes on.

That makes total since...

but I didn't know that oil change was the ONLY feture of of maintanance light... why doesn't it just have a "change oil" light... it would make a lil more sense.

Considering i have never had anyone else change my oil for me than your absolutley right about the MRL being on.. i have never reset it before. It didn't really dawn on me about the reset. I guess it was just coincidental with the intake deal, i was just trying to troubleshoot in my earlier statement, but i guess it was a little retarded.

Thanks for the help

change oil wouldn't make sense, as every 7500 miles as your car's overall mileage climbs, other types of maintenance are done along with the oil change.
