Default Maintenance required light?

My car just turned 20K miles. Around the 16/17 mark the maintenance required light car come, I guess to remind me of the 15k mile service. I had that performed and now at 20K when I drive for long distances my car flashes the maintenance light a couple a times and then goes away. I also noticed when getting gas today to light flashes for a long time once the car is initially started. Anybody familiar with the problem, should I reset the light, or is it a problem that should be looked at?. thanks

It's not a "problem". (You should read your owner's manual.) That light is ONLY a reminder that a set number of miles has passed since it was last reset. If you keep you own maintenance schedule, this light means nothing. It's merely a "mileage counter". Your owner's manual will tell you how to reset it. Failing that, look in the FAQs at the top of Technical.

it's flashing because it knows you have not read your owner's manual. if you read it, the light will go away.

Search is your friend. (When it works)

Ah yes the "search"....I have not had any success with that for a months. I do my own maintenance, and I do own and read the owners manual, I don't recall it ever saying it will flash while you are driving. I have reset that light more then 3k miles ago.
