Manual says replace nuts/bolts for alignment
Got new tires and want to get an alignment. The manual (2nd edition Service Manual shop copy 2000-2009) page 18-8 and beyond, says to replace the self-locking cam nut on rear of lower arm with a new one. The diagram says "A-Replace " (points to part). A note says "Always use a new self-locking cam nut with a new one, and lightly tighten it" It goes on to describe the procedure ending with tightening to specified torque-58lbf-ft.
More instructions for the rest of the wheels all include a replacement for self locking nuts (on front of lower arm) and the rear wheel self locking nut on the control arm.
Self locking cam nuts are $20 and the other ones are $3-$5, so it would be close to $50 for parts plus alignment.
Two Honda dealers were surprised that replacement instruction was in there. They said they have never replaced anything during an alignment except for damage.
So..... do I follow the book here or just blow it off and get an alignment and go on my way? This would not be for the track.
