MAP sensor problem showing up at 35k miles? Plus some interesting data
My MAP sensor needed an occasional whack early in it's life, but not in many miles. I get zero smoke on hard track turns. Possibly related?
Reminds me of the old days; a Buddy was just about to pull his carb as it was flooding everywhere. Grabbed his screwdriver, gave the carb a good whack with the handle, and the problem was solved.
Stuck float; the problem never returned. I guess all our high tech wizadry hasn't completely changed things!

I have not had ANY noticeable oil use, in fact I have only added oil between changes once, and it was a mistake since I checked in warm on a slope.

when I was hoping to get a baffling plate installed in the oil pan...when that is...my fabricator was hinting to the fact that maybe the baffling could be there to keep oil from getting in the way as opposed to keeping a good supply of oil at the pick-up. I only wonder...
Harry, my post from '03 is still valid - once I reseated the connector to my MAP sensor, I haven't had a single repeat issue.
Your experience with the Civic sensor suggests to me it's either the electrical connection like mine appeared to be, or the thottle body design like you said.

Harry, you're hilarious!
I've never had the need to actually to the "MAP whack" but when I do, I think I'll go for "CA-NA-DA" by Bobby Gimbey.
I'm wondering if with regards to the connector, if shooting some di-electric grease in there might be useful?
