Map sensor problems affect MY 02 and up? Or is it just 00 and 01 models?

After doing a search, I came across 597 topics for map sensor. Problems range from hesitation, stalling, to high rpm stuttering. Question is does it only happen to earlier 00 and 01 models? Or does it affect 02 and 03 as well?

I have about 30K on my 02 and decided to change map sensor and reset ecu. I didn't really have any of those problems above or never really noticed it. My rpms seem to climb much faster and feels stronger after the swap. I bought it off Handa for $45 under "Maintenance" section. Does this mean it's a wear item? If it is a wear item then when's a good time to change map sensor again?

Reason for asking is that it seems my peak hp didn't improve with AEM CAI but improved elsewhere in the powerband. I just want to make sure everything else is working fine before I go ahead with VAFC. As I stated above, rpms seems to climb much faster and pulls harder. I'll try to get a dyno to see if it made a difference in my peak.

Although I think it is possible that the new MAP sensor could cause the ECU to run a little less rich at first, I think the ECU will eventually adjust the variance out. It could also be that the MAP sensor made no change, and your "gains" are either placebo, or they are just from the ECU reset.

You can try putting the old one back in to see if there are any power changes.

$45 from Handa. Very easy to install, just 2 mounting screws.
