Since I've never had a problem with my MAP, I just went out and put on a zip tie. As you can see from the photos posted of the "kit", there is included a small braket ("MAP sensor holder") that is held in place by the driver's side MAP screw. If you do this at home, obviously, you will not have this little bracket. Therefore, after the zip tie is installed, there is nothing to prevent the back end of the loop from slipping off the rear of the sensor.
Here is what I did:
I used a 7" zip tie:

After securing it very firmly around the wiring harness and MAP, I used a small drop of Crazy Glue at each of the rear corners of the sensor (at the "Japan" and at the "P". Hopefully, this will hold through all the vibrations. I'll report back if it doesn't.

I think later, I'll make my own little "U" shaped bracket to keep the zip tie down.

I installed the new Map sensor and zip-tie yesterday. For you guys that are out of warranty, I'd reccomend buying just the zip tie PN#32125-PCX-003, as it fits over the map sensor like a glove.

Xviper's super-glue and zip tie works just as well.

I wonder if simply unplugging and replugging the MAP sensor could have been substituted for the MAP whack.
When I had my one MAP issue in Austin a few years ago, that's what I did and it worked fine.

Xviper,

The blue insulated butt connector looks particularly nasty

Nice write up as usual.

cheers

Question: Is the "holder" a one-piece item consisting of the bracket and the zip tie? Or is it simply a bracket that secures a seperate zip-tie?

If it's the former, then that's crap, because it basically means that you'll have to replace a 6 dollar part every time you unplug your map sensor (unless you're tricky enough to unzip the zip-tie). Generally that's a PITA, if it's even possible, and I would find myself just cutting it each time. In that case, somebody should design a "re-usable" bracket that will work with some standard size zip-tie.

Scratch my comment. Re-reading the description implies that the MAP sensor and holder are sold under one part number now (the new MAP P/N), and the tie wrap is sold by itself as a seperate P/N. In that case, they're charging 6.50 for a tie wrap?

But it's a really cool tie strap that fits over the Map sensor perfectly!

The holder is a separate piece that simply prevents the zip tie from slipping off (like my superglue). The holder is just held on by the one screw (which may be longer and part of the "kit") that holds that side of the MAP sensor on. When changing MAP sensors, you cut the zip tie but you re-use the holder. Zip ties are a dime a dozen.

The did the holder (and longer screw) because it would look goofy if they just superglued a zip tie on there when you came in for a TSB.

The "holder" and zip tie are the same piece, not 2 pieces. No longer screws are included either, it's the same sensor. If you look at the pic really close, the holder isn't attached by a screw. It's open above the screw.
