Stop at a stop light, RPM drops and the whole car is shaking and shuttering. I wonder what is causing this? Anyone think a Valve Job would help?
I don't know if this is your problem, but I've been tinkering w/ valve clearances while attempting to troubleshoot some issues I've been having with my Toda cams. Toda says to set the clearances to .009" intake and .010" exhaust. I wasn't getting the power that I wanted at those clearances, so I decided to set it tighter (in an effort to get more lift). When I set the clearances at .006" intake and .008" exhaust, I noticed that my idle was really rough (maybe like yours). My RPMs didn't seem to be any lower than usual, but the whole car shuddered at idle.

You might check your valve clearances, just to rule that out. However, if your problem is intermittent, that sounds more like a ECU or sensor problem. Valve clearance problems would probably be more consistent.

Hmm... make that 3. I have the exact same problem during most rush hour. I learned to live with it (clutch in before moving again).

Do you think the map sensor issue could be whats behind the breaks in my dyno graph while in Vtec?

If you're referring to the "levelling off" just before 6000 rpm, that could just simply be the prelude to VTEC coming on. The engine might just be running out of breath a little bit until VTEC engages. We do know that our MAP sensors can be quite variable in terms of quality and consistency, so it still could be a possibility.

Dyno Graph
I can't really tell what breaks you are talking about in the graph, unless you are referring to the "dashed" lines when the dyno's inductive pickup looses the ignition signal. If that's the case, then it is totally normal. All of my dyno plots have missing spots somewhere, but you can see the whole graph using the wheel speed (instead of engine RPM) in the software.

The breaks in the chart are the Inductive pickup loosing it's RPM signal. It's pretty common with stock ignition system cars to see this on a Dyno chart.
