Honda's engine builders occasionally hand build engines with formula 1 spec internals for themselves. To get these out of the factory they mark the engines with an X. They then wait till they appear at the dealers so they can purchase the cars and remove the fomula 1 parts to sell to McClaren.

If your engine if one of these specials you should be safe revving it to at least 18,000rpm and produce over 200hp/litre output.

your fine dude. I wouldnt worry about it. I have weird X's all over my car randomly lol. Im assuming since the car was hand built it has something to do with it.

May have had some work done. But like people have said those are pretty random marks. did you get a service history?

Yeah service history I have a few reciepts showing oil changes and what not, but I can assume the previous owner barely drove the car, the car fax shows. I mean 13k miles the car has only probably had 4 oil changes max but I think I am not going to worry about it cause the car runs great.

An "X" means the engine performed subpar on the dyno and was originally issued to the TDM- Thailand Domestic Market.

Could be something for the emission or safety inspections.

I've got the same exact marks on mine. (No joke.) I bought it with a handful of miles on it (it hadn't even had its first oil change).

And I've got no idea what they're for. I'm guessing something during the build process.

My car was hit while parked. I went through ins, had the shop fix it, got an ins check to cover it, and it still does not show up on carfax.

Those Xs are odd but may just be assy line marking as everyone says. Yet I've never seen that on any I've seen or worked on (hundreds)
