Default Massive oil Leak

Hi,

So i just finished changing my front calipers, all new pads and painting front and rears and put the car back on the ground. Started the engine to go and test the brakes and bed them in and it felt like it had ran out of fuel with the engine surging and dying. I switched it off promptly after realizing fuel was on empty and filled it up.
I went to start again and revved it a little at which point i heard a huge gushing/spraying and i switched the car off immediately and looked underneath. Low and behold, oil is gushing out. I open the bonnet and find the engine mount covered with oil. There is also a lot of oil splashed up the firewall and a little around the base of the oil filter and the lip of the oil filter.

I assumed that the oil filter had come loose and then took it off, cleaned it up and tightened it back up as tight as i could finger tight. I then topped the engine up and started it again. Was fine ticking over, but as soon as i dabbed the throttle again, whoosh, oil everywhere. I can't be sure it is coming from the oil filter. Is there anywhere else in the locale that oil could be coming from at great pressure. It wouldn't be something horrible like the head gasket would it?

vtec solenoid is all good. Where is the oil pressure sensor?

its to the left and downward of the vtec selenoid; it's a round thing with a wire attached to it (leading to the oil pressure light)

it's screwed right into the block

Ahh right. Yes, under physical inspection it seems fine, but i cant really test it myself.

If you have the time, etc. have the car towed home, clean up the engine, and refill the sump. Then have someone start the car while you watch for the oil leak. You should be able to see where the leak is this way.

I Just took the oil filter off for closer inspection. It is a UFI oil filter and screwed off wonkey. It looks like it has buckled under pressure. I am guessing this is the problem, because the side which was facing towards the engine mount/manifold had a lager gap then the other side when tightened up all the way.

I just fitted a honda filter and torqued up correctly. The engine was running rough and making loud clicks for a short while, but i think that was more fuel starvation related. It settled down and runs smooth now.

I had to remove the heat shields and use degreaser and a jet wash to get rid of the old oil and reduce the smoking from burning oil on the manifold / exhaust.
