Default max n/a power from s2k?

hey guys,
not an s2k owner, but i recently got a ride in one at an auto-x and really liked it.
anyways, on to my question:
what is the max amount of hp you guys know has been achieved on an n/a usdm s2k?
@ the wheels?
also, can the torque be increased a decent amount with sufficient mods?
no s/c or turbo info please.
no jdm spec race cars or custom one-off highly worked engines.

thx

Bleh... this question's been answered 1000 times, and this thread will probably end up in S2000 talk, instead of UTH.. but here's my 2 cents.

1) Max NA HP at the wheels (on a dynojet) that I've heard of is just a hair under 240. Search for old threads by Hams2000 for details. This was on an F20C. Not sure what will come of the F22C. As a guess-timate, I'd say my current setup probably puts down about 230rwhp (30hp over stock), but I haven't been back to the dyno since adding the header & exhaust.

2) The only way to considerably increase torque is to increase displacement. You can do this by bumping the F20C to a 2.2L. I'm not sure how much more displacement you can get past 2.2L and still have a reliable, streetable car. The only other way to "increase" displacement is by adding boost. I know you don't want to hear about boost, so I'll just leave it at that. You're not going to get much additional torque out of this engine if you stay NA. The alternative is to get shorter gears, which will make you feel like you have more torque.

Your profile looks like you've got a STI... if you want power, I'd say stick with that. If you want handling, I'd say to beef up your suspension and try to shed some weight from your car.

Hope this helps.

The F20C is only capable of 545.671 normally-aspirated horsepower at the crank. Anything more and the crankshaft goes into self destruction mode, with a half-life of 4.7 minutes. Each additional 0.86hp shortens the half-life by 77.1%.

Since I had the "Technical" section added to this forum for the "truly" technical stuff, we are being a kinder and gentler UTH forum and giving more leaway to what can be left here.

Not technical enough?

I figured I was specific enough...

The max power potential of a normally-aspirated F20C is really 545.670981 horsepower. Didn't think Dave would be that critical.

Chris,
This is a tough crowd, don't let them get you down. Welcome to s2ki. I think you've got a good question, but don't have an answer. All I know is that most of the stuff people spend a lot of money on doesn't do squat - exhaust, intake, etc.
