Thanks for the link to the tightening sequence.

I pulled the valve cover this afternoon and inspected the keepers/retainers. On the intake side they all seemed to be uniform and sticking out the proper distance but I couldn't really be sure since I didnt take the cams off. On the exhaust side I wasn't really so sure about because the viewing angle was different. Again they all seemed to be the same distance.

Now I am considering taking off the cams so I can get a better look. Is it difficult to do this? Does it require any complex adjustement besides the valve adjustment?

By the way I checked for grooves on the cams and didn't have any.

Intake side should be your main concern as they are the first to go. If you did not do it, try removing the fuel rail cover and using a flashlight instead of a trouble light. Removing the cover gives a very clear view and a more concentrated light source just makes everything easier to see.

10,000 CP works quite nicely.

Another option is the $2.99 dental mirror from the local pharmacy.

Also, keep in mind, the main thing you should be looking for is the keeper being flush with the retainer. Check this thread. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry6099242

Billman has a great picture 1/2 way down the 3rd. page.

Pull nothing but the valve cover.

Removing the cams will not help. Dental mirror will

I installed a digital tachometer and programmable LED shift light that records highest rpm achieved. So, if I ever 'money shift' I'll know exactly what rpm it hit as the digital tachometer can record up to 13,000rpm. Pretty sure the motor can't hold that rpm anyway.
