Metal rubbing / rattling sound
I recently took my 07 S out for a spin and definitely noticed a metallic rubbing / rattling sound. I did some searching but couldn’t find the exact combinations of symptoms that I have. Would love some opinions.
The sounds can be heard when:
• I drive and get RPM at about 3 or higher.
• I have ebrake up and car in neutral and rev the engine.
The sound goes away or can not be heard when:
• I’m driving and press the clutch in and go to neutral and coast.
• Car is parked and idling.
My thoughts (and I’d love some opinions):
• don’t think it’s wheel bearing. I would think that would be heard as long as car is moving.
• don’t think it’s exhaust heat shield. That’s more “rattling” and mine is more “rubbing”
• don’t think it’s spare tire bolt. Sound comes from front.
• sound comes from somewhere above main engine block. Can’t pin point right now.
• don’t think it’s tct. Sound is not the same from all the references I’ve seen/heard.
• I recently replaced clutch with OEM clutch and AP1 flywheel about 4 months ago with reputable mechanics. No issues and drove wonderfully. Wondering if THIS is the issue and something popped out while driving. And since the sound stops when I press clutch in and go to neutral, would this most likely be the culprit?
what do ya’ll think? I need people much smarter and experienced than me and that’s probably just about anyone else on this forum.
here’s a link to sound. Sound isn’t the best but can be really heard around :10 mark:

How many miles since the clutch was replaced? As a mechanic if a problem pops up out of nowhere, I go back to the last thing done. I would return to the mechanic and have him drive it.
