Metal Scraps in differential fluid
Hi I just recently had Honda do a differential fluid change in the s2k. They told me to stop doing burn outs and hard launches because they found some metal scraps in the fluid. I never do these kinds of things so I was wondering what the deal was? What else could cause this to happen?
I thought that just from breaking in it might have these but I am not sure. Oh, and this is the first change, it has about 10k miles on it.

Was it your first diff fluid change? On my first change, it had lots of superfine black metal bits on the magnet making it look really fuzzy. No large slivers or metal chunks.
The second change should look a lot better.

During my most recently diff oil change done by a friend of mine, there was some metal sludge on the magnetic drain bolt (really, it looked like paste) and a few (very few) small bits acutally recognizeable as metal. They were wood splinter size or smaller. If that's what they were talking about, they don't know what they're talking about because it's normal.
Or they were just lying to you for some reason?
Third possibility is that there really is a problem, but I think most of us here would have to see these "scaps" to really be able to figure out what the deal is.

I think it is likely just semantics - words mean different things to diff people - if you had posted a pic, I could tell you in a flash.
In my 454 LS6 Vette, when I pulled the 12-bolt down, I found little chards of metal, but the thing had seen 40K miles on OEM fluid, and many street n strip launches of that torque monster, and the gears were fine for another 60k.
