Default Metallic high pitch noise while on throttle

So, after I got my Seibon hood with vents in it, I've noticed this sound.

I didn't think nothing of it at first but it's getting to me a bit.

The engine is running great, holding oil great, and the car drives fine.

Whenever I'm on the throttle around 3000 or 4000 rpm, I hear this metallic whinning noise.

I just had my differential fluid changed not too long ago at honda, and had transmission gears redone (from previous owners abuse), and everything looks like it's good.

This only happens when I'm on the throttle, and when I'm off of the throttle it dissappears. It does sound like it's coming from the drivers side and it's very faint metallic noise in intervals, and it almost sounds like a chain or a wind breaking into a stick at high speed, that whistling noise, but more constant.

any idea? I know what knock sounds like so that's not it, but I don't know what noise does the valves that needs adjustment makes.

I'm almost thinking it's the intake filter that i changed out, but that can't be making this sound...

it happens in every gear, but at light throttle and low rpm. it's driving me nuts... sort of sound like a broken dog whistle for humans.

any clues on what I could look up or search for on this? If this was an evo, I practically know what every noise means, but new to the s2k... and search engine here isn't that good.

any help will be great.

thanks.

I am with you on this one! Mine is a high pitch but faint squeek between 3k-4krpm's and only at partial throttle. But I still have the stock hood on mine, so I don't think it was anything to do with the hood. I thought about the vacuum hoses, so I replaced them all. But the noise is still there I even changed the induction setup, but it is still there. It almost sounds like the throttle body needs to be lubed or something. Guess I will try that next.

Good luck with yours, and let me know what you find!

It is only at light loads under throttle between 3k-4krpm. The noise is not present under decel or heavy loads. Besides, I just replace my brakes and tires 2 weeks ago and this has been a problem from day one of ownership. The stealership has no idea what it could be and said that it is not affecting anything important. Although I wonder how they came to this conclusion as they openly admit they don't know what it is!

I have it too, sounds like a roots blower with the volume turned WAY down. Again, just like the description above, it only happens at 3-4k RPM and only under light loads. I especially notice it when I have the top down so it seems to be an "outside" sound and not something that resonates through the cabin with the top up (although I can still barely make it out with the top up).

I have searched and searched to figure out the source of this noise and I found an old thread on here about this same noise. Someone in the thread guessed that it was the chain driven oil pump that made the sound. I didn't bookmark it so I can't link to it for reference. I'm not saying with any certainty that what we're hearing is the chain drive on the oil pump, just that it's the only explanation I've read concerning this particular noise.

I always just ruled this out as one of those mechanical noises that our car makes. To my ears it doesn't sound bad, just like a smooth mechanical whine. Sort of like an old, air cooled Porsche boxer.

Our cars have tops?! Guess that would help in the rain!

Heat shield? When I had one I always heard it at 3-4k rpms. Harmonic thing I think.
