Might have crankwalk..
Yes this continues from another thread but I am looking for more answers. I recently started hearing a noise from the car a few weeks ago and stopped driving it. Replaced TCT (billmans), did valve adjustment, threw in some fresh new oil and filter, new spark plugs. Still have the noise. The car was NEVER run low on oil. I have this noise that sounds close to rod knock but isnt. I found copper glitter in my oil so I drained and inspected the oil pan. Was fairly clean. But there still was glitter in the oil. Did a compression test and it was maybe 10 psi over in the 4th cylinder. Inspected the rod bearings and cylinder walls when the pan was off. Was good. This leads to me to one last possible conclusion and the one I dont want to hear. I might have crankwalk.. It still drives and isnt a crazy loud noise, but is still there. How should I confirm this? Taking it to a mechanic tomorrow to see what they say because I am lost. One cause that I can think of is a rear main seal. I recently had a clutch installed in feburary about 5-6000 miles ago and had them replace the rear main. I had noticed oil on one side of the pan but I thought it might of been from excess oil from the valve adjustment. If they messed up with putting a rear main in and it was leaking slightly, would this cause crankwalk?
Maybe I should just run while I still can and sell it asap though.. Ive only had the car since last september and really dont want to see it go.. But its been stressing me out beyond words can describe. Especially since I really dont have the cash to throw in a new motor.
Its an 01 with 103k miles and I bought it at 93k. :/ Hopefully someone can chime in my next step or give me moral support of some kind

Took it to a shop.. Mechanic says its fine ? Oil pressure is good he claims, took off valve cover to inspect. Put thicker oil in, listened.. In my experience a mechanic wants to find something wrong so im good? The fine metal particles were still present though in the the previous oil change. When he flushed the oil he said there was no debris/shavings. Could be from resealing the oil pan or the adjustment nut scraping up the oil galley possibly? Dunno I will assume thats where the debris was from and just drive it. Still getting another opinion though just in case. Hopefully I can post a video later to see if anyone else can catch something. Most likely my paranoia is getting the best of me.
hmmm seems like the problem is so small it isn't definitive... if you have crank walk, i would've assumed you checked the thrust washers on the crank?
if you're running a heavy pressure plate (similar to an act setup) I'm wondering if your one of the few that have the pressure plate-crank walk issue...

When I did the inspection I did not check out the thrust washer surface, i didnt even know you could! I just looked at rod bearings/cylinder walls. I really should of looked at this while I was down there, I was so excited that the rod bearings/cylinder walls are good I just threw the pan back on and hoped for the best. I am currently driving it right now and it seems fine. It does bother me though that when it idles it makes kind of a rattle, then when you push in the clutch it goes away? Might just be the clutch system im using. Shouldnt you worry anytime there is a spec of metal in the oil? I had quite a bit of fine powder. Then again I was under the hood a lot so maybe somehow that contributed to it. I am getting a new phone in the next few days so ill take pics of the oil and video it for the world to see. It drives fine though.
Oh and from what I have read the pressure plate from the competition clutch isnt that heavy, never seen thrust washers to be a problem. To me it feels close to stock clutch-pedal wise. I did have the pedal adjusted crazy high because when it was cold it was a pain to throw it into reverse. Had to go up to 1st then quickly to reverse. Its warmed up here so cold starts doesnt seem to be a problem anymore

Nah thats not the main issue, just something I did notice. Cars so noisy I finally figured out what clutch buzz was, thought it was a million other things, thank you
. The noise im talking about though is definitely sounds like bottom end.. Hopefully im just crazy. But fine metal particles should be enough evidence that I am not? Like I said it could be just from when the adjustment nut dropped through the galley it took some metal with it (I did see a few scratches in there) but judging by how fine they are I am almost positive its bearing material.

yeah i know how you feel. i recently removed my oil pan and didn't care to check any of the bearings. I'm not having any issues but its good to check up on the wear and tear items with the pan off anyway. I've got 105xxx on my f22.
check out this product it can help determine any abnormal sounds and maybe put you at ease when it comes down to identify what noises are coming from where...

id recommend purchasing a project kics magnetic oil drain bolt too, it'll help catch the shaving or any kind of metal particles floating around in the oil. DO NOT BUY a passwordjdm one i had the magnetic pop off and stick to the pickup-hence why i had to drop my pan. i hear the project kics one is way more secure because it doesn't protrude out like the other drain bolts.
i hope this helps...........
