Smile Misfire driving me crazy!

i was boosted previously and recently took my Comptech kit and went back to stock, after going back to stock all the problems have happened.

the first time i had my CEL the codes read for misfire in cylinders 1 & 2, along with the multiple misfire code.. so i went ahead a switched the coil packs to see if it would change anything, along with switching my spark plugs around too (unfortuanately i had SC gapped plugs in .036").. reset the ECU, etc..

CEL came back on with only a misfire in cylinder 2.. i did do the fuel injector cleaner routine with no luck.. but the tank of gas after, immediately after i pumped, the CEL was gone for about 20 miles?? (hopefully this can narrow it down)

i know that my SC gapped plugs (IK24 gapped @ 0.034") were messing everything up, so i bought some spark plugs in the meantime (since i have the spark plug recall in a few weeks by honda), reset the ECU, hoping it would be the plugs, but the CEL came back on, reading misfire in Cylinder 2?

i dont know what steps from here to take? please help me, im not sure if this misfire in 2 is fuel or ignition or both related, and i dont know where to go to narrow it down from here.

-could it be fuel? since i had an upgraded FPR and Fuel Pump with the SC kit, should i recheck these items?
-fuel injectors? the car runs pretty okay, not satisfactory, but it feels like its holding back a little. but since it was under the Comptech FPR, could these been damaged?

as for fuel related issues, is running a fuel pressure test the correct procedure?

-could it be the ECU? since tapping the ECU for the SC ESM, could a missed or loose wire connection cause this misfire?
-could it be Vacuum Leak? i dont even know where to start on this one, where do you search for vacuum? which vacuum hose should i check?

the most weirdest part of it all, is that the idle is perfect.. what i mean by this, it always at 800-1000RPM and very smooth.. so smooth, the shift knob doesnt wiggle that much, and the car is so quiet it doesnt even feel like its on.. ironically, even with SC gapped plugs (IK24s), it still idled smooth..

so with a smooth idle, where do go from here??

much appreciation and thanks for any help or input.

CEL/MIL =

This is off-top I know, but why did you take the SC off? you plan on selling it?

I've had 3 instances of mis-fires.

First one was very intermittent and on the second attempt the dealer just replaced the coil, plug, & injector. Fixed.

Second one was a bad ignition coil, but the odd thing was that swapping coils didn't always point out the problem. Sometimes I'd get a single cylinder mis-fire code that followed the suspect coil, other times I'd get multiple mis-fire codes. Turned out to be a bad coil pack, on the cylinder I suspected.

Third time was the MAP sensor. Serious misfire and CEL at light throttle, later developed mis-fire at idle. Did the MAP whack while idling and it immediately cleared up, been fine since.

I'd suggest getting another coil pack, either new or swap with a friend, and start substituting it for whichever cylinder you think is most likely.

I am having this same problem. Mine said two cylinders were misfiring, and multiple/random misfire. So is this a common problem with s2000?

How many miles on the car?

Have you diagnosed the problem? For example, have you moved the coil packs or plugs or fuel injectors (one at a time of course) to see if the problem moves with any of these items?
I just did a map whack and reset the ecu. The problem is solved.... for now. My car runs better than it did the day I bought it. hmmmm. Probably not but it does run a hell of a lot better. I am still going to replace the map and the plugs and the air filter, and whatever else i can find that the previous owner might have overlooked. Oh well. I guess I should be happy.

This is weird. This is the third car that has a bad #2. Is this common?
