Just did this mod a couple weeks ago and I used the honda coolant. Make sure you bleed the system thoroughly or else it will start to overheat. I also had to adjust the fitment for one of the fans, just make sure you dont break anything while adjusting it. Other than that it was a pretty simple install GL

ok. what is Type 2 Fluid? how does it differ from Type 1? and what is the best way to bleed the system and how do I know if I have all the air out?

Thanks again for the insight

Check the UTH stickies. Look for billmans instruction, Double check on this, but IIRC crack open the bleeder on the intake mani, fill radiator til liq comes out. Turn on car, keep idle at 3K. Continue filling rad as needed. Wait until t-stat opens (operating temp) and continue filling until a steady stream comes ot of the bleeder. Close, overfill the overflow bottle (in case air bubbles remain) and go on your merry way. Keep an eye on that temp gauge and coolant overflow bottle for the first week though, just in case.

Also, while you're in there you should definitely change the fan switch. I failed to do so, and I am starting to suspect that mine is no good - and to change that you have to drain/fill//rebleed everything.

The mishimoto tabs wont be a perfect match to the radiator fan shrouds, but luckily one of the two fans has slotted holes, the other just slowly thread each bolt in loosely before tightening. Its going to probably bend the shroud a bit.

As far as I know, Type 1 was phased out many years ago. If you just go to a Honda dealer and ask for coolant, they'll give you Type 2 (part number OL999-9001).

Awesome info here. Thanks Boardies!

one more Question . Do I need to find the drain bolt on the block to ensure all fluid is drained from the engine before adding the new type 2 fluid on my 00' into the new mishimoto radiator?

I saw a youtube video of the install and I didn't hear him say anything about the engine block drain plug, but I read about it on one of these DIY post.

Thanks Again.

I recommend getting an aftermarket radiator cap (skunk 2, spoon, mugen, ect) mishimoto has a history of having faulty radiator caps.
