Compression and leakdown will help if there was valve to piston contact resulting in a bent valve. It will not tell you if the retainers have been damaged which is why the valve cover should be pulled and the retainers and keepers inspected. Myself, I would probably also come back a few hundred miles later and check again if the first look reveals nothing.
