Mixing Tranny Fluid
Hi all, I am going to change my motor oil this weekend and I thought I would change out the tranny fluid while im going. I have a quart of the honda mtf and a quart of redline mtl. Im wondering if its alright to mix the two of them? I found a lot of threads about mixing mt-90 and mtl, but nothing about moxing the honda mtf and the redline mtl. Thanks in advance.

While most fluids are listed as "compatible" with other fluids - keep in mind different manufacturers do not have the resources to actually test their fluids mixed with other products - and there is a good possibility some of the additive package components may negatively interact.
Redline uses several proprietary ingredients that may not work well with Honda MTF.
Amsoil MTF would likely be okay to mix 50/50, due to the fact it's actually listed as a direct replacement - however, Redline doesn't list their product as a direct replacement for Honda MTF.
You can try it - but be prepared to change it immediately if you notice any problems, and don't use it for an extended period time - think of it as a short term hold over until you get the proper quantity of your preferred MTF.
