Default Mobil 1 vs. Amsoil EaO Oil Filter Performance

Granted, this is just one vehicle, but the Mobil 1 oil filter clearly outperformed the (more expensive) Amsoil filter in a direct, heads-up comparison

Mobil 1 rocks my world and Dick Cheney loves ExxonMobil. What more do you need.

I'll stay with the Honda filter.

Honda PCX filter
It's designed for the S2000 and meets the requirements set forth by Honda for the AP1 and AP2.
Mobil 1 filters have a tendency to unscrew themselves from the S2000's motor on the track, and Amsoil tech services would not give me the specs of their filter

Stick with what works.
And BTW - I don't believe that particular test was for the filter(s) specified for the S2000. Different filters have different flow geometries, operating and bypass pressures, and so forth - so unless you're examining a filter designed and tested for the S2000 specifically - I don't believe it's necessarily applicable to our cars.

Once again - PCX

Ive used Mobil1 oil and filter since Ive owned my S2000, seems to work good for me. Although Im sure I wouldnt have noticed any difference with any other brand, its mostly just personal preference (not saying there isnt a difference, just that 99% of us wouldnt notice any difference).

You're likely right.
However, check the torque on a Mobil 1 filter periodically (it will starve the motor almost instantaneously if the filter backs off), and consider using Mobil 1 EP if you're dead set on using a store bought oil - it is a much better oil and worth every bit of the extra 5-10 bucks it'll run you.

It's a safe bet any OEM filter won't perform as well as the Amsoil or Mobil 1 filters, especially in the < 25 micron category. As far as the filter coming loose, there was another thread on this topic; if the filter is properly tightened, they don't come loose, so that's a pretty lame excuse not to use one. I just got mine for free today when I picked up five quarts of Mobil 1 EP

There always has to be a happy medium here. Extreme filtration would require minute pores in the filter media and result in cleaner oil. This would probably be at the cost of lower oil pressure. High flow comes at a cost of less filtration but better lubrication. Change the filter at each oil change regardless of which type you prefer.

Depends on the filter media.
