Again I say it's probably more marketing hype than actual changes in product formulation.

Sounds good guys -- I think I'm gonna switch as soon as my new engine is broken in!

By the way what viscosity grade do you guys recommend? Keep in mind I'm in Vancouver -- primarily moderate temperatures, no wild swings etc.

Honda suggests 10W-30.

There have been a lot of discussions about Mobil1's change... apparantly some think that the new 'SL'(vs the normal 'SJ' rating) Mobil 1 tri synthetics are not actually pure synthetics based on PAOs anymore... but rather they are like Castrol Syntec, a highly refined dino juice. But the SuperSyn apparantly has been established to be PAO based. something like that....

53K on the dial..........changed to Mobil 1 10-30 at 11K. Just put in the new Mobil stuff. 5-30!!! All I can say is this smilie HOLY COW!!!! Car is fast as grease lightning now.

It may be that I waited a bit longer to change the oil this time and its fresh oil and the car loves it but car feels SO much quicker. Car pulls very nicely and runs very well.

Those Oil Gurus out there...........is there a problem with running 5W-30? Its getting to summer time now so the weather is gonna get hotter!

So you waited like 40K miles or so for an oil change to Mobil 1 again? That seems like a long time. As far as I understand it, in hot temps, you want a thicker viscosity to handle the high temps of the engine. 5W starts out thin, which is good for colder temps and when you want the oil to pump quickly. But I may be wrong....

kingkong, in response to your Redline synthetic oil, I don't recommend it. I've got a little over 12k miles on my s2k and just started using the Redline synthetic and I'm not that impressed because I find that I have to top up the oil levels much more often than a conventional oil. I used Castrol before I made the switch to Redline and I did not have any issues with losing oil and I'm driving no different than I am now. I've consulted with a Redline technician (Dave@redlineoil.com) and he has confirmed that he has heard from other s2k owners having this problem.

Hey Jcheung, why haven't you tried Mobil 1? Don't like that one. Thanks for the info on Redline. Have you considered using their Water Wetter in the radiator? I was wondering if that was worth trying out.
