Default Mobil1 VS Valvoline

Hey guys, I was wondering which one of these two oils is the best bang for the buck....

Mobil 1 extended performance VS Valvoline synpower?

I know that synpower is cheaper and I heard it's rated about the same as Mobil one, what are you thoughts?

Thanks.

You probably wouldn't notice much of a difference between the two. Out of the Mobil1 stable I like EP the best. You might notice different oil consumption rates between the two oils, you might be able to run Mobil1 EP longer than Valvoline if a longer drain is what you might like. If you are going to change them both at a lower drain mileage save yourself some money and go for Valvoline. If you want a longer drain I'd take the Mobil1 EP.

Not really, because it could be cheaper, but what if it is a bad oil over all.... that would not make it a better bang for the buck.

A great oil that I've been using is Castrol Edge. Before that I was using Mobil1 for years. I always hated how my old AP1 burned so much of it, and I did notice that my current AP2 burnt just a tad with it.

Switched to Castrol Edge a couple months ago, and the car hasn't burned a drop! Plus, it seems to have quieted down the valvetrain a bit too.

current deals from O'Reilley

Castrol Edge @ $3.40/qt up to 5 qt with mobile 1 EP synthetic filter
Valvoline SynPower 5qt Jugs buy two and get $25 rebate, almost BYGO free

Most people on bobistheoilguy state that you need to do a normal drain interval when you first switch to a different formula before you can actually run it in extended conditions, so you'll mostly have to throw away some Mobile 1 EP after the first 3~5,000 miles. Might as well stock the valvoline or castrol edge with the current promotion

been running Valvonline on the S and castrol edge on the bimmer with great results!

I really hate Mobil 1 burns the most by far and just have heard lots of bad things about it.
I switched to Castrol Syntec and been liking that much more. Valvoline syn power or whatever I also liked.
