Default >>>>>>>>>>>>>>motor Is Gone, Now What<<<<<&

I have only had my s2k for awhile. Not really got to enjoy it for to long, now the motor has dropped a valve. I don't know why right now, i was driving home(being good believe it of not) and it happened. Now i am going to have to rebuild, i will have pics up soon of the spamed up spark plug and the hole in the piston and the chewed up valves. Now i would like opinions on what i should do. I don't have alot of cash to spend, but i can rebuild it, i know how. If i do rebuild it i would like to go ahead and make it better, especailly the vavle springs. But i don't know what i should do...................please add comments

this is a common problem. the faulty plug can break off at the tip and can cause catasthrophic engine damage. i believe your 01 should still be under warranty(hopefully).

sounds like you overrevved. you will probably have to get the cylinder bored out that had the spark plug break. it probably scratched up the cylinder wall. And because the s2000 doesn't have balance shafts, I think you'll have to get the matching opposing cylinder bored with an oversized piston in it as well to keep the engine balanced. you are looking at some serious cash here. You should also check if the conn rods are bent as well, and you will need new valves on the cyl too. if you don't have $3k, you definitely won't be able to put in any aftermarket engine upgrades. all the engine upgrades (2.2L stroker kit, toda cams, spoon valve springs (if they are even for sale) are all expensive. I think you're looking at more then $3k just to get the engine back to stock, even if you do a lot of the work yourself.

I feel you're pain. I dropped a valve too and the head and block is completely junk. I just went ahead and got a new motor.
Here's what came out of the intake runner:

You can over-rev the car by changing down to a gear, at a speed, that causes the engine to be mechanically pushed beyond its 9000 RPM limit.
