Default Motor Mounts- Rough Idle

So my S has been shaking at idle after warming up. I've searched alot and people say clean the IAC (already done that) but I believe it could be motor mounts. So my question is, has anyone changed their motor mounts and noticed a difference in idle shakes? I'm going to check today to see if they are worn. I'm at 116k; so I think it may be time to change all my mounts (Motor, Tranny). What do you guys think?

I've been noticing a bit of a rough idle as well, even with the A/C turned off. Did you find anything during your investigation?

I noticed the same. My car would idle between 800-1000rpms which i believe is normal. However, it would shake like no tomorrow! I can feel it in the car and in the shifter. My mechanic checked it out and my motor mounts were shot!

Bad Motor Mounts and Tranny mounts will lead to some vibrations in the cabin esp in the shifter.

So you might want to take a look at the condition of your mounts, I know the engine mounts you MIGHT not be able to tell the condition from just looking at them until their taken out sadly, unless their leaking fluid...from what I remember their liquid filled but you might want to search and double check.

+1 - I agree, mine was actually leaking fluid in addition, he knew it was bad because this happened when I was changing out my clutch... I was wondering where all the vibrations came from lol. Mechanic said they're hydraulic type motor.

no I haven't gotten around to check them, but I still have vibrations in the cabin. I just deleted my softtop btw...took me 8hrs. But next time I take my car to get the coolant flushed I will get him to check. I'm taking a break from diys for awhile lol

You may want to pop the hood and look down on top of them. If the rubber has a orange tint on top then that is likely the dried up fluid. Both of mine where split and showed this, then again I'm at 239K miles.

If it looks fine you will have to inspect closer, but this will tell you off the bat they are busted or ripped.

When I was under my car last summer, the passenger side mounts looked worn. The driver's side looked fine. I guess that's due to the torque of the engine. I was at 63K miles.

The telltale sign is the orange fluid that leaks out of the mounts when damaged. I wouldn't expect yours to be in bad shape Jack given the age of your vehicle and normal street driven use. They may look worse than they actually are.
