Motor mounts and service manual
In reviewing the service manual for replacing the motor mounts, at the very end of the process, it says you have to remove the steering wheel????
Why in the world would you need to remove the steering wheel for this? And do you really need to?

When you lower the subframe, you have to separate the lower steering joint. This leaves steering wheel free to spin endlessly, which would tear the expensive airbag clockspring cable. Wheel might rotate on its own from top weight in this scenario, and if steering was already close to lock in one direction, this would be enough to tear it.
So removing the steering wheel prevents this. But simply being careful about allowing wheel to rotate works equally well at preventing this issue whenever subfrane needs to be lowered.

Other ways to remove,ie support engine and undo mounts, remove.

I am thinking about replacing my motor mounts and was going to follow Jason's guide on how to proceed.
However, in a comment on another video he mentioned that he did not properly tighten one of the mounts and therefore assumed it ripped early.

As stated, no need to do anything with the subframe. And for jobs were the steering does need to be disconnected, if you mark the steering shaft position before taking it apart and use some bungees to keep the wheel from moving, you dont need to do anything with the steering wheel besides that.
For motor mounts, I used a piece of a 2x10 under the oil pan with a jack under that to support the motor. Have done it this way on multiple cars that did not have flimsy pans in the past. There is enough movement there to allow you to raise enough to get the mounts in and out. I think it took me 45 minutes to swap both mounts this way if I recall correctly.
