The gas tank is in a pretty good location right now. Any benefit gained from a lower (and probably less safe) location in the trunk well would be offset by the increase in polar moment of interia, not to mention the car's increased balance change as the tank empties.

 

hack up a drifter and put the body parts in the trunk....you may need N20 to keep the putrefaction down if you do an enduro.
