I hope Mugen will make the stroker kit and could make it 9000 rpm safe...

Hello All-

Unfortunately, Mugen has shelved the 2.2 stroker engine at the moment due to high production costs. Because of this, Mugen feels that the cost of this kit would be too prohibitive. Mugen uses a special forged crankshaft, forged connecting rods and special pistons to achieve the increased displacement. It is also nessasary to bore the stock block and install new liners. A special head gasket and a new ECU top it all off.

I have lots of seat time with the Mugen 2.2 engine and it's quite spectacular!! Tons of mid-range torque with great top end punch with OEM reliability and temperament.

Who knows, maybe Honda has looked into the technology Mugen has developed from this project and may incorporate it into the S2000 in the future. Pure speculation at this point, but Mugen and Honda are very closely tied.

Cheers!

Scott

Okay, Scott...now you have to bring that car to Sac2KDays II. I would LOVE to see it, hear it, etc.

As far as your speculation regarding Honda, it's not unwarranted. There are plenty of rumors out there about a 2.2L coming soon in the S2200 coupe. I wonder if Mugen was an influence!!

Honda should subcontract the S2000 engine out to Mugen, kinda like Mercedes originally did with AMG. Or maybe have Mugen versions of cars like M-B does AMG versions? I mean, if there could be a Mugen S2200, and it had significantly better mid range, a bit more top end, and perhaps slightly better handling, I could see people paying $40,000 @ the dealership for that. Now, I'm not sure it coudl be done at the price point, but I'm just dreaming, and that's my dream!

Your not dreaming. This will be a reality. All of these little tidbits we are seeing now with the modulo body kit and the 2.2 liter motors (Feels and Mugen) is all going to end up on next model S.

Well, just a hunch anyhow And i dont even think it will be that expensive. I m guessing 35k.
