Default Mugen exhaust with test pipe

Sorry in advance if this has been discussed before, but I could not find anything in a search. Now, is running a test pipe actually worth the trouble?? Seems like a lot of guys say it helps with some type of aftermarket ecu, but I'm running just mugen bolt ons. It would be especially helpful if I could get feedback from guys running a test pipe with the mugen exhaust.

tks

I have been running a test pipe with stock exhaust and no problems what so ever. I believe you are enjoying the difference it made right ?

Actually, I don't have a test pipe yet, but was wondering if it actually would make a difference with a mugen exhaust?

Although I don't have the Mugen exhaust (j's n1 here), I'm planning on installing the Spoon test pipe. I think I've read that running the stock ECU with straight pipe will cause the *check engine* light to go on. With a boosted set up, removing the cat will give bigger, more noticeable gains. With an N/A set up, there will be very little gains, since our stock cat flows very well.

I am running T1R a test pipe with stock exhaust. The engine check light went on and there's no problem with the engine. I can feel noticeable low-mid-range improvement. The test pipe is cheap and I think it is a worthy upgrade but you just have to live with an engine check light on.

I've read about guys by-passing the cel, but I can't find the thread. BTW whats a T1R test pipe and how much do they run?

You have that amuse ecu right? A lot of guys say a test pipe will only help either on a FI car or one that has an aggressive ecu. I'd still like to try on though.

This works for the CEL, so i've heard

As for test pipes and performance, I believe there is a difference in the low-mid- range as stated...The car sounds A LOT more aggressive as well. Check out my sig, I am coming out with a test pipe soon.

The fact that the Mugen ECU bypasses the secondary 02 sensor allowed me to think that all the Mugen goodies plus a test pipe would equal some great bolt on power.

Why don't you try that Stu, aren't you gonna get the ECU? Make sure you get the temp gadgets.

I am running a test pipe with j's n1. It made vtec transition smoother. Only thing is the CEL and it doesn't bother me, not worth putting in the simulator for.

does the mugen exhaust system hook up with the stock catalytic converter? I wanna buy a straight/test pipe but need a cat for inspection sticker. If not I'll probably try to buy a high flow cat
