Thumbs down Is my car going to die?

So naturally I blissfully forgot to get an oil change. (went 3,000 miles over the recommended due date)
Only remembered when the yellow engine light came on, and my car started bucking and cutting out at around 5000 rpms or so. I went immediately to get an oil change, but the engine light (along with the hand brake light, check oil light and abs light are now on) and the engine now makes a tiny click noise and then dies completely.

Needless to say Im going to the mechanic, but does anyone know these symptoms, am I in big trouble?

Thanks so much in advance.

Sounds like your screwed man. Do you ever check your oil?

Assuming the oil level was ok, I'd be curious to know how going 6k on your oil would cause total engine failure. Was the car ever over-revved?

I think something else is at fault here...

Not recently, I asked the technician how the oil looked and she said it was black. I think Im going to kill myself.

It wasn't overreved, Im a fairly conservative driver. But I've had to take some major road trips recently so Im fearing the worst. The technician also said the oil was very low.

If the oil was very low...you could have caused engine damage. However did they say how low? Going over the recommended 3k while using synthetics is perfectly fine...all motor oil turns black over time. Its the amount of oil that is in the motor and how you drove the car during those conditions that will determine the damage, if any to your motor.

If you see or saw that red oil light, the engine is pretty much done. The previous owner of mine ran the oil low and it made a knocking noise, it was a scorred #4 cylinder. Ap1's burn alot of oil and you need to keep an eye on it. I had to replace my entire short block since I didnt want to re-sleeve it.

Usually, once the light comes on it's too late.

i know that on most hondas ( not 100% on the s2k ) but if that light comes on it means the motor has under 5 psi of oil pressure..

yeah not changing the oil had no bearing on the situation, it was not checking the oil level that will kill it. You've got to check the oil level once a week, you can't go between oil changes and not check it.
