Default MY00 Vin under 5730 hardtop install?

Do I need the appropriate install kit, or will the hardtop still install without any issues? I'm not so worried about the defroster, just want to make sure that the hardtop will mount and secure properly. I know the made a kit for the vin under 5730 but not sure it it defiantly needed or how easy it is to find.

All OEM hardtops are the same, and will fit any year s2000. I forgot what the 00-01 guys do for the defroster though.

Yes it will mount, no you won't get a working defroster. A quick search yields this:

Very early AP1s (under 5730) need defroster wiring, new center console, and new brushes.
The other AP1s that need the additional kit are simply defroster wiring.

So yes it will mount up to your car fine.

Thanks mike, I did some searching and there were two other side panels that it stated needed to be replaced as well because the earlier models weren't made in preparation for the hardtop. Those were my worry. Not so worried bout the parts just want to make sure I can install it without any real issues.

The new side pieces only have a smaller amount of brush material. You could trim the OEM piece with scissors to achieve the same effect.

I just installed my top a few weeks ago so all this is still fresh in my mind.
