Thumbs down MY01 Donuts?

Ok, I've been trying not to ask this question for the simple fact that people on here might mistake themselves for my mother by telling me not to beat on my car, but every time I do donuts, by about the fifth one or so, it's like the engine cuts the throttle for about 3-5 seconds or so then it's fine. Is this like some kinda of computerized nanny sysmet that says, "No, no, no....No donuts for you today"? I know that the 06 has a stability control system, but on an '01?

It's kinda like my friends Ford Lightning back in highschool. We did donuts in the parking lot the day before graduation and by about the 3rd one the engine cut off and we couldn't start it again. I saw the vice princple along with our scool police officer come running towards the truck, so I left him to take all the blame. But in my case the engine does not shut off, just cuts power. I was thinking about taking my car to a drift event at VIR next weekend, but not if I go into a drift and my car nanny decides it wants to cut power. What's the deal here?

Is there any chance you're simply hitting the fuel cut-off?

Do the revs "bounce"?

Patient: "Doc... it hurts when I do that."
Doctor: "Then don't do that."

Best advice ever.

You're an idiot for abusing your car like that and your mom should've bought you a Kia instead, but putting that fact aside, I believe that there is a rev-limiter that engages when you rev the car in neutral & you're stationary... maybe this is a similar device. Alternatively, maybe you've somehow managed to starve the fuel pickup (how much gas was in your tank at the time).

Regardless, you're an idiot.

It's probably the Anti-retard system turning on.

I don't support doing donuts either but you guys are being very immature.
This isn't S2000 Talk and I thought we all silently agreed we'd keep UTH clean.

Truth. I'm with that guy. ^

To the OP, I'd bet you're starving the fuel pickup. 3 or so months ago, I hit a patch of ice and spun my car. When it stopped, I tried to start the car and it wouldn't start.

I had to key-on-off 2 or 3x to re-prime the pump and rail before it'd start.

now that I think of it, it could be me just starving the fuel pump. I usually do left handed drifts or donuts, and that seems to be the only time it ever cuts off. I will try them the other direction tomorrow and see if it does the same thing. Just kidding. I get free tires usually from my uncle's shop, that's the only reason I even think of doing donuts. I'll stop for now, since this is my favorite car I've ever owned and will never get rid of it, so I want it to last me forever.

And to MXT__77 I'm not an idiot, so can you honestly say you've never done donuts? It's just a little bit of fun I do every now and then to impress girls and my grandparents if they're riding with me I just do it for fun, not like it's a daily thing, "Uh-oh it's five o'clock. Time for donuts" I didn't want anyone to come in here and tell me I'm an idiot, but just to offer an explaination for my particular predicament, but power to you. You think I'm an idiot and that's ok because I know I can be an idiot sometimes.

Haha DD, "daily donuts". I love it. No one can try and poke fun at him for doing donuts. Hell a friend of mine gave me 10% of shipping some parts at the UPS store cause I did a few donuts in the parking lot for him. It was a brand new lot without ANY tread marks...until today bwahahaha...

Anyways, I've had the same thing happen. The car never cut off, just felt laggy.

yeah that's the thing about this board man... I've noticed a lot of people on this board will flame all sorts of shit for no reason.

my personal assumption is that the majority of those people are older, and aren't as crazy and filled with life like the rest of us younger members. So a lot of the things we do (whether it be driving habits, mods, or whatever)... they hate on.

Just an observation, but the vast majority of S2000 owners in my area are well over thirty, closer to forty. I'm the youngest owner I've ever seen in the Atlanta area, and I've still got a few months before I turn 23. Another personal assumption to me is that the vast majority of S2000 owners probably fall into the older category. Not quite vintage, but not young enough to understand.

**** 'em. Do what's fun man, because sooner or later you'll end up like that too, once life sucks the fun out of you.
