Is there a difference between a MY00-01 exhaust system and MY02-03? Are the ones on 02-03 more free-flowing? I would appreciate an answer from someone who knows definitely. Thank you!

 

Well, at the risk that you won't appreciate my answer, I would suggest the following: Call a Honda dealer and ask if there is a different part number for the two systems.

For my part, I can tell you that I was told they are the same, but "knows definitely" suggests you want to talk to an expert with first hand knowledge like the guy that designed the thing at Honda. I haven't cut them open to see if there are any internal design changes from year to year, and I suppose if the later systems were improved internally, then the factory may only list the improved system as the part number for all years.

I have looked at systems from both sets of years and taken measurements at certain points, and they appear the same to me. The guys at Spugen have probably done more research than anyone else on this board, maybe you could PM one of them. I hope this helps.

 

Thanks, Bill! I'll give a dealer a call. I thought the 02-03's may be more free-flowing hence rendering a little bit more dynoed power.

The power difference on '02-'03s is due to the revised ECU, which allows more agressive timing and fuel. While there may or may not be a slight difference in the exhausts (I doubt it), even the extreme single-outlet aftermarket exhausts don't produce much power over stock (maybe 3-5 max).
