Is MY2003 VTEC really adaptive?

Or it could be that harddrive interfering with the ECU?

As Road Rage stated, VTEC is either ON or OFF, there is no "hard on" () or "soft on" or "kind of on". If there is a difference in feel from one VTEC event to the next, it would have to be due to throttle position, fuel trims, timing curves, engine / oil temp, heat soak, etc.

On a side note, I don't understand why anyone would even want a "VTEC Kick". If you are getting a strong VTEC transition, then you are loosing power (area under the curve). A VTEC controller is very usefull to maximize the power curve by lowering the VTEC engagement. I have my VTEC engaging at 5500 RPMs, which gives a VERY smooth VTEC transition.

about the smooth vtec engagement. if its smooth, it means you're making decent amount of power right before 6k rpm. a big change is not good at all, and we all know the 5-6k rpm zone is a "dead spot" on our engines.

I looked for a while at the schematic for the entire fuel system, as well as the VTEC actuator, and see nothing to indicate that it has a dynamically variable invocation.

The diff in transition between the MY04's and the heritage cars is likely a function of the superior midrange punch of the new car. If you go from little to something in a hurry, it seems like more. If you go from a little more to something, it seems like less.
Whatz the big mystery?
