So I am sitting here thinking... a spoon header would be nice. But then I get to thinking, what happens if I get a supercharger later? I know that on the B16, most NA headers simply don't work well with a supercharger. So the question is, what are the thoughts of the current crop of headers with the Comptech charger?

thanks,
-Shing

Whassup Shing. I think that many of the SC owners, including myself, are running stock exhaust manifold. I DO plan on changing this from fact to fiction...but the car still hauls no matter what.

I think that your reasoning is correct (b16 ) This may be part of the reason Shaner got a lower dyno than others, but this is just what I think. Keep in mind forced induction likes bigger tubing, while NA only needs equel length (and a little bit of additional length), not bigger diameter, to get all of the benefits. The additional length has to do with the exhaust pulse, and back pressure in relation to keeping the velocity of the exhaust gasses high, with forced induction the velocity is there, but so is more volume. This is how I understand it, if I am incorrect please help
Thanks

Isn't the stock header a NA header?

Since FI changes the properties of the exaust pulses (under boost) the you would need to 'tune' the manifold or headers for the maximum air velocity.

The headers work in tandem with valve overlap to acheive the best breathing at certain RPM's, same for the intake manifold.

Change one thing, like a cam grind or even porting heads and polishing manifolds and it will throw off the tune of the engine. The F20c isnt really a sloppy engine like some other production engines, so its hard to get it much better without doing the whole sh'bang.

Sure, FI could benifit from different headers but if you go from NA to FI I dont think youll miss a few HP.

The reason behind my theroy is, that the SC system was designd for the stock header, and its exhaust pulses. In order to gain power from a header and the SC set up, you would need to redesign the system as well as the header to match the changes in the system. One way of doing this is adding more boost. It is a good guess that you would then want a bigger diameter tube to rid the engine of the greater exhaust volume (quicker pulses) produced by the greater boost.
Just my oppinion though
