Default Need Engine Number

My shipper, for some odd reason, wants to know the chassis number as well as the engine number, can someone please help me identify the location?

Much appreciated.

Thank you but that will not do since I am not tearing down an engine.

I have been forwarded the number E22C1-1060, does that make sense for an engine number?

Cheers.

You don’t need to tear down the engine to see the number. It is visible, located in the left front corner of the engine.

You looking for the part number or the engine VIN (visible with a mirror on the back of the engine head) which I believe should match the chassis VIN?

The tag on the back of the head is the VIN number. It is not the engine number.

Yes and no. The first letter should be F, and the serial number is 7 digits. So your engine number is probably F22C1-1060xxx, where the last three digits might not have been visible to whoever was looking at it. (Incidentally, the "6" in the 3rd digit of the serial number indicates the engine was built for an '08 model.)

Am I correct that VIN on the back of the engine should match the chassis?

Correct ^

The engine cylinder head and the transmission case have a removable (via drilling) green tag with the car’s VIN.

The engine number (typically off a few numbers from the VIN) is stamped in the block.
