i have an issue and i want ot know anyone has an idea what it might be before i get it checked.

I was driving down the highway and i was shifting to 5th and before i let go of the clutch the shifter jerked its self into 5th and i was still on the clutch so i pulled over and notice my clutch was Screwed and im in the middle of the highway. So i notive i was near my girlfriends house i manged to get it out of 5th by turning the car off and i was able to turn it on. and i had to forcely pull it out of 5th. by slamming on the clutch while trying to pull it out of gear. Then i manged to put it into 3rd and take off and get to my girlfriends place a mile or 2 nothing more down the road. i parked the car and then it all seems fine the clutch was back and the gears where all good. Stupid of me thinking it fixed it self. I went to my car planning on attempting to drive my car to my house so that i could toe the car from there to the shop. SO it all seem fine when the car was off but when i started the car the clutch pedal went down. im pretty sure the clutch is blown but i turned the car back off. and put it in Reverse while the car is off turn the car back on and went to start it the car jerked backwards and it started to smoke out of the hood. i took out the key and popped the hood and smoke was coming out and then i noticed that the ground wire and as well as another wire going to some fuse. that the rub wrap around them where melted. and the car wont start now. does anyone have any idea what that might be and did it short out?

Thanks I just want to know if anyone can give me an idea what it is before i take it to the shop to see whats wrong.
