Need help with my daily driver...
OK, I know its not an S2000, but I'm sure someone can help me here.
My other car is a 1992 VW Jetta which I bought in February. I had it tuned shortly thereafter and did not want to put any more money into it than I had to. A few months later, it did not pass NJ inspection, so I had the cat replaced and it passed. However, after it was changed, the idle was low and spurty and usually stalls the first time I turn it over. While I'm driving, I try to step on the gas, it sputters and finally kicks in.
It seems as though it is starving for either fuel or O2. I checked the fuel filter, looks new/recent. I checked the air filter, looks fine. The only other thing I can think of is the O2 sensor...but I don't want to keep replacing things until I find the problem. The only other thing that comes to mind is resetting the computer. Would I have to disconnect the battery after the cat was replaced?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
