Default Need help, no cold air and AC noise in the engine bay

Just purchased a 2006 GPW S2k. And on the drive home my AC stopped blowing cold air.

My AC was working great on a drive home from Dallas. Then all of a sudden it stopped blowing cold air at all. When I pulled over I noticed there was a noise coming from the engine bay only when the AC was turned on. The noise goes away when the AC is turned off. My AC was working amazing previous to this happening and now I have no cold air at all.

I've posted a video of the noise. Has anyone ever had this happen to them or can you point me in the right direction. Much appreciated

Sorry to say, it's probably a blown compressor. I can't really think of anything else that would make any noise. Don't turn it on any more until you get it checked out further, or it could totally grenade and spew metal pieces throughout the system (hopefully I hasn't already).

Probably the compressor but it almost sounded more like a fan issue. Need to get the compressor checked out.

Thanks for the replies. Any suggestions on where to get an AC compressor? Is this common on the s2000s?

It's the compressor without a doubt. If you want to save yourself from replacing the entire system, dont turn on the a/c again until the compressor is replaced. I get this all the time at the shop. If you continue to run it, internal metal shavings will disperse throughout and contaminate the system, also known as "the black death" (black shavings everywhere in the lines, condenser, evaporator)
