Need Oil Analysis Lab Recommendation
It's time for my next oil change and am considering doing it myself. When I looked up the filter number, I was shocked to find that it didn't match the filter number listed on my dealer service ticket from my last oil change 5000 miles ago. The ticket says they installed a 15400-PLM-A02, though what's actually on the car appears to be a 15400-PLM-A01 (I can see "Filtech" printed on the side). Regardless, they definately did not install the correct PCX filter.
My dealer has admitted the mistake, and has offered to correct it. He agrees that the PLM filter has less capacity and that there was probably a greater amount of unfiltered oil circulated in my engine. My concern is that while no immediate damage may have been done, I could have some longevity issues. My dealer offered to open the filter and look at it, but I responded that I wasn't concerned with what was trapped in the filter, but what wasn't.
I have called Honda and gotten a case number, but for now, I'm just trying to work this out with my dealer.
I assume a good oil analysis will show whether there are a higher level of contaminates and wear metals in my engine now than what you would normally expect in a car with only 10K on the clock. Never hired this kind of test though, and not sure of who the good labs are. Hoped you guys could give me some good recommendations.
Thanks for your help.

I think you may be over reacting. Yes it was not the correct filter but these filters were used earlier on every S2000 before the PCX.
If you're this worried about your engine because they used the wrong filter then I suggest you stay away from dusty/dirty roads. Your air filter doesn't filter "all" the dirt and it will contaminate your oil.

I seriously doubt there's additional wear caused by an incorrect filter. The fact that it's only got 5k miles on it likely means it's not plugged (and, hence, redirecting unfiltered oil back into the engine). While it could be more optimal, it's not likely to have caused damage.

You are WAY overreacting, I am frankly surprised your dealership has cooperated thus far. Your car is fine, that filter is still a lot better than a lot of the ones available at parts stores. I've seen turbo'd S2k's running around with Fram filters and they are still going (I do hate Fram products though).

My dealer has been very cooperative, and are a class act. That is why I have continued to do business with them for the past 17 years.

I think you'll be fine. I'll agree that Blackstone seems to be the most common place used for UOAs. A few months back I was reading this post, it might be somewhat relevant to your situation if you get an oil analysis. While it doesn't have anything to do with the wrong type of oil filter it does demonstrate that the S2000 exhibits some "abnormal" amounts of deposits in the engine oil for quite a while after the motor has passed its break in cycle. So even if you did get your oil analyzed, your car is still virgin enough that the results might not be consistent compared to other S2000s with more mileage.

Give them a call and ask for expedited service on sending the sample kits. You don't list your location, but if you're in South Florida you can have one of mine. They've had very fast turn-around time for me in the past.
