thanks for your help i went ahead and bought the brake pads myself and paid someone to help me all in all i spent 190 but now i see how easy it is. it sucks because i dont have a jack, so it would have been really hard using the stock jack considering i cant even get it to work right half the time

Buy a floor jack. The trunk jack is not really very safe or convenient. You can save enough money to pay for it with a few brake jobs and oil changes.

it's a 15min job to do the front pads - not counting the jack & wheel removal/replacement.
rears don't do much so they are more than likely good. they can go 80k miles easy depending on your driving. if you are not having any vibration when braking you don't need to turn the rotors. it's only two bolts on the caliper. you will need something to compress the caliper so it fits over the new thicker pads. i use large channel lock pliers. it takes me longer to jack the car and remove/replace the wheels than it takes to replace the pads.
