New cat? Lower vtec?
Soo the noise i had said my car was making, turned out to be the cat that went bad, sooo i have hondata. And now ima get a berk high flow cat, can i lower my vtec to like 4k rpm without losing power? What kind of hfc should i get if not the berk, im completely stock, just hondata.
Recommend you get a Gernby FlashPro road tune. You can severely diddle the engine just lowering the VTEC engagement with out adjusting other parameters. Install the Berk 63.5mm high flow and contact Gernby for the tune. Mid range power is WOW after the tune.

Do your mods first as the high flow cat will influence things. If you're considering a different air intake like the popular K&N FIPK do that as well. With the quiet stock exhaust behind the cat the FIPK intake noise will sound wonderful at WOT (wide open throttle). You'll seek out long underpasses and tunnels.
Especially after the tune.
The Berk high flow cat (recommend the 63.5mm for stock exhaust and most aftermarket) will bolt right in Soak the bolts in PB Blaster for several days to help get them off. I was able to reuse the front doughnut gasket for my installation. Rear gasket comes with the cat.
The Gernby FlashPro road tune runs a series of seven diagnostic calibrations several times capturing the data on each run. Most run from 1800 to 8000 rpm in 3d gear. That's 18 to 80 mph so you need a road where you can do these. Email the data back to him and he'll analyze it and send another set of 7. This may result in a final tune or more diagnostics but you'll soon get a tune for your car. None of the diagnostic calibrations are driveable for other than the testing so you'll need to reload the OEM tune until you get the final.
VTEC will be set to the ideal rpm for your car's configuration. Mine is 3600rpm. Beware, this tune eliminates the sudden "VTEC Yo!" effect at 6000 rpm and the change in exhaust and intake sounds are the real clues to engagement. Other than wonderful boost in power! Those freeway on-ramps were never like this.
Yep, I'm a fanboy!
