New clutch?
So I've got an '01 AP1 with 105K miles and the transmission has started to "slip". Under acceleration, it's as if I put my left foot down, only I don't.
First question:
Does anyone recommend an "upgrade" over the stock clutch? I might do a minor turbo so something than can handle more power might be necessary down the line.
if I do find an upgraded clutch, should I order it and have someone local install it? or should I see someone who specializes in such things and have them provide everything?
Does anyone recommend a shop in the NYC area to install?
Also, I need a new idle control valve, same situation: do I order one and have it installed? Or...
Appreciate any help!!!

You can make some really bad decision s here, so proceed with caution.
There are some really crappy aftermarket clutch parts out there. Many go bad in as little as 20k miles (exedy OEM, or the many other vendors selling basically the same junk). Here is what you want:
Honda friction disk
Honda release bearing
Honda pilot bearing
Act h021 pressure plate
Ap1 or aftermarket lightweight chromoly flywheel (many like the 8lb options, but anything less than 14lbs is lighter than ap1)
This is the goto option for best clutch
Now, an ever bigger mistake is who will do the work. So many here diy everything, as so many S2000's have been ruined by bad mechanics or even good ones that just don't know enough about our cars.
With the clutch, it's vital, much more so than on other cars, to lube where it's needed, use not too much, or too little, and use the correct grease. It's all too easy to end up with the opposite of the problem you have now. Clutch won't fully release. Shifts will be notchy, or grind. May have a lot of trouble even getting into the next gear, etc.
Fortunately, you live close to The Best S2000 Mechanic, In The World. Billman. He's out on the east end of LI, but worth the trip. People have driven halfway across the country to have him work on their car. Groups of people have hired him to fly out to their area to work on their cars. You just have to take a scenic drive out on the island. He will do your clutch while you wait. He won't upsell you stuff you don't need. He won't overcharge you. Most importantly, he will fix your car right., And stand behind his work.
Make your appointment , and get out there while your clutch is still good enough to drive...
