Is there maybe a problem with the rust protection of the shortblocks from honda? Storage of metall parts over a long period of time is difficult.

so that's two new engines from Honda that went bust.

however, your first engine PRIOR to these two new engines had bearing issues as well correct? can you provide details regarding the bearing failure in this first engine? was it wear, oil starvation, rust? perhaps a clue lies in this first engine's failure.

So the engine is finally disassembled. Oil analysis showed the oil is within the specs....now the interesting part is that 2 of the main bearings in the middle are gone....all material pealed off....only a spec of brass is present...all other bearings including rod bearings are completely intact. The material looks like it flew off in just a couple of seconds. This show its the same problem as before with last new engine. The only difference is i shut of the engine immediately this time so no other bearings got hurt.

Soo......what now

well, this is starting to look more like a manufacturing defect.

if Honda doesn't acknowledge this evidence, perhaps you have enough evidence to pursue a legal case?

So there is a guy on FB now trying to sell brand new S2k motors he claims he just bought from Honda. When challenged on that point, claims that in the EU all the dealerships can sell them again now because Honda started making them again. That would be interesting news, but I am saying BS on it and that these are old stock or not even new motors. Anyone else hear of any magical new production of these motors ?

Engifineer,
There is an S2000 Honda Blackpool are currently selling here with a brand new engine block:
https://coxmotorgroup.com/used-cars/...er-2dr/ugg90er

I did enquire about it and they told me they are able to source new engines, how and where I don’t know.

I also enquired with Tegiwa on their short engine block they have for sale here:
https://www.tegiwaimports.com/select...20c-s2000.html

Description “HONDA S2000 Engine. This is a fully assembled F20C lower block complete with rods, pistons, timing chain, guides, oil pump, crank shaft, seals and gaskets. This is the later model of the F20C enigne with better cylinder walls for a longer life and less oil use. As with all Genuine Honda parts expect a perfect fit and performance every time. Part number: 10002-PCX-E10”

It is available - they have sold around 11 in the last 7-8 months and has warranty. Where they source it I don’t know but they will supply a short block.
Don’t take this as an indication of engine failures as these engines are being put into Mk2 Escorts etc.

As a general comment, all F20C engine components are still manufactured, but Im still not clear if the complete engine block is available off the shelf or who is building these. Is it Honda building the complete engine block or a third party buying off the shelf components and building?

So, if you buy on of these new short blocks it would be a good idea to disassemble it an check the bearings for rust from storage and repalce them, if they are corroded.
