New K&N filter, less vtec..
My ap2 has about 28k, oil level at normal/max.
So I replaced air filter with K&N and I started the car with hood up and box lid off, to check the sound.
after i put everything back, went for test drive. not much mod i know..
anyhow, my car had much better throttle response, but what's weird is that vtec doesn't seem to kick in as hard as it used to be with stock oem filter, which was dirty.
I mean, car used to jerk my head back when vtec kicked in at around 5900rpm~6000rpm. you could actualy feel it with body as if you had 25shot of nos. I guess I'll test it more later again but with new filter it didnt have much kick to it.
I've searched on this forum but after 45 mins of reading it, i gave up. nothing came thru.

maybe your old filter was so clogged that it was decreasing the efficiency of your engine.
The new filter could've smoothed out the curve, so that the "spike" in power (such as there is in an AP2), is less pronounced as the level prior to VTEC isn't as low anymore?

vtec is supposed to be smooth when you get your car tuned properly any ways. It is less noticeable now because you probably gained some power in your power band right before vtec kicks in.
I enjoy that vtec kick. It reminds me a of the good old days when i was running nitrous. This is one thing holding me back from the hondata w/toda header reflash.
Anyhow, a new filter shouldn't smooth the curve out completely or i wouldnt think so. I went from stock airbox to FIPK intake and i didnt feel like i lost any of the vtec kick.

so i ran it hard tonight, i sure did gain lots lowend tq/response, vtec kicked in hard in 1st, 2nd gear was good enuff, 3rd gear was in vtec so i couldn't tell.. it just pulled..
i think overall i wasn't able to feel much of lowend with old filter, so i guess i felt most of the power when vtec kicked in.
anyhow, i'm going to look out for snorkels..
after i just need to replace presure-plates, along with stronger clutch.. and yes i'm going to leave the cdv on.

your butt must be calibrated to detect microorganism movement
you;ll be happy to see .5whp gain with drop in filter
