Default New owner questions!

Just picked up my 2004 S2K yesterday. Loving it.

Couple questions and concerns.

1. About 1 out of ever 10 HARD shifts into second grinds. Not like a grinding that keeps me from getting into gear... I would describe it as more of a "crunch". I changed the fluid to some Royal Purple Syncromax and it still happened once during the drive... maybe it got a little better. This seems like a common problem. Is there a fix? I'm going to put some Amsoil in there next since that seems to be the community's preferred fluid, but I am also reading something about clutch fluid, master/slave cylinder, and clutch adjustment?

2. Clutch feels soft. Kind of feels like the clutch is bad but once it bites, she's solid. It's like the car slips the clutch for a second maybe two for me. Can't really pull off any tire chirps because of it. Is there some kind of delay valve? All 3 s2ks I have driven had a clutch like this...

3. What is this thing? It came with thee car in the cup holder and I don't know if it's important. http://imgur.com/bCytAHk

4. What are some of the first things I should change? Plugs, fluids, air filter, what else?

Thanks!!

How many miles on it. I got mine in November with 64,000 on it. My second gear always improved when car warmed up. Changed the transmission fluid last weekend and much improved. Definitely change all filters especially the cabin air filter. Easy to get to under the passenger side cowl in engine compartment. Also check your plugs. The tips were non existent on mine. I also had a ticking sound when car warmed up. I replaced the TCT with Billman's improved model and it is quiet. Good luck and enjoy the car!

I believe the remote works a strobe on the car.

72k miles. Today I put in Amsoil 10w30 engine oil, Amsoil 75w90 diff oil, and I ordered the trans oil. Also put in new OEM plugs and polished the headlights as well as a few other things.
